Utsav 1 - Traditional Indian art depicting Celebration and festivity - Mural Painting - Diptych
This is a modern interpretation in the theme of celebration and festivity, in a style inspired by the Kerala Murals and temple art. This is a style of painting frescos that evolved and flourished in the southern part of India, mostly in Kerala. This painting here is one of the two panels that forms a diptych, both representing subjects in a mood of celebration, dance and music. The subjects can be seen wearing elaborate ornaments and playing traditional musical instruments like the tambura and the drums. The background, richly decorated, is clearly expressive of the royal palaces and temples from the ancient and medieval eras in India. This style generously uses a warm color palette - red, yellow, orange and brown accompanied by natural, desaturated greens.
